WHO WE ARE
We’re redCHOCOLATE, the new approach to hair color education—an intelligent upgrade of the status quo, created under the belief that a hair colorist is not only an artist but also a professional. And part of being a professional means knowing that creativity and business are not necessarily mutually exclusive. redCHOCOLATE’s multidimensional educational experience puts the two together. By connecting the art and business of color, we pave the way for creativity that drives business.

WHAT WE DO
The focus of redCHOCOLATE is all on you. What you want to achieve, where you want to grow, and your vision for technical and business excellence—however grand that may be. We will build you that stepladder that will help you reach your goals, and perhaps even surpass them. By covering all angles of teaching, and by teaching only what works—technically and for your hair color bottom line—we can meet the needs of all types of creative learners. It’s more than a class; it’s an educational experience. And, whether you’re looking to become the best colorist you can be, or you’re looking to run a highly productive and sought-out color department, we have the tools to get you there.

HOW WE DO IT
We connect the art and business of hair color—expanding technical skill and driving salon profitability through the craft of hair coloring. And the “how” is quite simple. We take your commitment, our systems and training, a side of shared passion for hair color, and a dash of excellence for good measure, and put it all together. The best part is, with all of these ingredients, the end results will be whatever you can possibly dream them to be. At redCHOCOLATE, we are committed to excellence in everything we do—especially your education. Our educators are industry leaders with a proven track record for producing exceptional results through focused education. And on top of all that, we have strategically partnered with INYUtraining™ to ensure that you have the online tools and resources to support you 100% of the way.

WHY WE DO IT
We believe in the art and the possibilities of the hair color industry. We believe that through education, we can push the limits of this ever-evolving craft while simultaneously enhancing the consumer experience. We believe we can ground this technical yet abstract art in business without taking away creative freedom and expression. We believe we all can learn to color better, smarter, and more profitably. And we believe we can help make this possible.

All programs can be customized for your salon

CREATING CONFIDENCE AND SUCCESS WITH HAIR COLOR™
Confidence actually can be learned, but first it has to be taught. This six-session program for owners, managers, and colorists is focused on identifying the essential tools, techniques, and processes required to be confident in every aspect of hair color, or color department management. Confidence that, in return, will breed success. For the owner and manager, we help analyze your current hair color productivity, identify your goals, and then provide the tools, coaching, and support you will need to achieve those goals. For the colorist, we promise to elevate your knowledge and technical skill to a higher level of performance over these six sessions, three of which are hands-on using live models.

Creating Confidence In Formulation™
Formulation can be as simple or complicated as you would like it to be. The real secret of success with formulation is confidence. This course covers the what, why and how of formulation and addresses the colorist’s most common – and challenging - formulation issues: What do we have to think about when we formulate….condition of hair, NRP, previous color, home hair color, choosing the formula we apply, all affect our result. What about pre-coloring and low-lighting blondes? Do we need one formula for the new growth, one for the mid-lengths and ends? Why are the ends grabbing and going dark and how do I prevent it? How do I remove unwanted color? How do I cover grey, get a clear and vibrant red, and beautiful blondes? Creating Confidence in Formulation will give you the tools and confidence you need to predict beautiful and consistent hair color results every time.

THE ART OF THE CONSULTATION™
We believe the hair color service is either “won” or “lost” during the consultation. Providing a great consultation with every guest, every time is something that, as salon professionals, we all know and understand. And we know how important it is. Yet, we may sometimes skip the steps that will guarantee a great outcome for our guest. Less-than-perfect results mean less-than-happy customers—and that’s just not good for business. In this course, we teach a specific technique for delivering an exceptional consultation, the steps for implementation, and the psychology behind the process. We’ve developed a special consultation portfolio, language, and technique that we believe will help every colorist connect with his or her guest in a way that will ensure 100% guest satisfaction and loyalty.

redCHOCOLATE HAIR COLOR TRAIN THE TRAINER™
This program has been designed for those salons interested in creating an in-salon hair color education program, or for those who would like to kick their current salon hair color training program up a notch or two. In this course, we will: help you identify the person in your salon who would make an excellent color trainer; develop your color trainer to the level of master colorist; develop your color trainer as an educator; and provide direction, coaching, tools and support on how to develop color specialists. The program is structured as an intensive workshop covering all aspects of technical hair color and train the trainer content, with an emphasis on hands-on workshop and video teach-back sessions.

HAIR COLOR TRAIN THE TRAINER, PART I: FIRST, LEARN “HOW”
In order to teach, you must first know how to “do.” And the better you can do, the more you have to offer those you teach.

We recommend that every trainer experiences and conquers the essentials necessary to be effective by attending Creating Confidence and Success with Hair Color, Confidence in Formulation, and practicing the 20 color techniques found in the Art and Science of Color and Texture before the teaching even begins. The program breakdown is as follows:

Creating Confidence and Success with Hair Color: 6 days

Part II will cover learner-centered training through 4mat learning, presentation and demonstration skills, and how to plan, organize, and execute effective presentations. You will also have the opportunity to student teach and to critique your own skills through video teach-back sessions. EFFECTIVE COLOR CORRECTION
Everyone knows that some colors are, quite simply, a nightmare to deal with. This course takes away the scary stuff and teaches you how to approach these nightmares head-on, without hesitation. Learn how to work over home hair color to formulate for low-lights that last, and to formulate for great blondes by neutralizing stubborn gold/orange.

We’ll also address why reds fade and how to effectively prevent it, how to effectively work the lifting and depositing NRP charts, why and when to color-cleanse, how to remove permanent color from the hair, and successful pre-coloration formulas. Basically, everything you ever needed to know about color—good, bad, or otherwise.

COLOR THE CUT
The haircut is the canvas upon which to create your hair color masterpiece. Are you realizing the full potential of the cut? What do you see when your guest comes to the salon? Do you see half a head of highlights? Do you see a head of 100 foils? Or do you see a creative opportunity—how to color a hair cut to really bring out the shape and texture? Learn to look at a haircut and be able to offer three fantastic options—options your guest couldn’t get anywhere else. In this course, we focus on how to look at things differently and have a vision that guides as we section hair and place color for maximum effect. This is purely a creative class that focuses on color-placement ideas. Join the class, and step out of your “box.”

Connecting Inspiration and Creativity
What exactly is inspiration? Where do we find it, and how do we use it? And why is it sometimes so hard to grasp? In this course, we work with you to connect your inspiration and creativity. First, we take you out of your everyday space and into an arts-oriented environment. We invite you to connect to something you find inspiring. We look, we question, we experiment, and play. Then, we challenge you to develop a specific color application or technique from the inspiration you find. In a process designed to open your mind and move your color work to the next level, we focus on connecting you to your own creativity. Where you take it from there – your work behind the chair, creating a collection or presentation, doing a show – is bound only by the limits of your creativity

FOILS—A VEHICLE, NOT A TECHNIQUE
Foiling is the bread-and-butter technique for every colorist. It’s also the place that most colorists get stuck. To even call it “foils” does the technique injustice. Because really, it’s not about the foils; it’s about what’s inside them. And it’s about where they are placed. How do you vary what you offer your regular foil guest to shake things up and keep the technique fresh and exciting for both the guest and yourself as a colorist? This course dives deep into techniques that break the habit of ho-hum “foils” and exponentially expand your technical arsenal. We promise that, with this course, your core color business will increase simply because you can feel confident and competent in offering your “foil” guests something new, something they will love, and something only you can offer.
